Forbidden Fruit - Kootenay Botanicals - May 2021 (Submission Review)
/u/416strains
Before I get into the review, just wanted to say a quick thanks to the mods/organizers who've kept this place running over time - I'm a fan of the recent changes and hope all reviewers can learn that being transparent will usually work out better than turtling. Since even before I started writing reviews, I could see that many of the posters in this sub were compensated via discounts or free product for their reviews, and a lot of times it's even sources themselves writing bogus reviews under fake accounts ^.^ My point is, everyone reading this sub (or the internet) should continue using their discretion and keep in mind who has generally been dishonest about these things in the past, and who may likely continue to be. I don't have as much time to write as I used to, but will continue providing full disclosure wherever necessary while continuing to gift more than we accept for review, which effectively negates our incentives by choice. -------- Arriving as dense, well-trimmed medium nugs covered with bright orange pistils and frosty trichomes over a base of purple and green, this Forbidden Fruit (Cherrie Pie x Tangie) has an intoxicating aroma of earthy berries and sweet tropical fruit in the jar. This indica-dominant hybrid begins as a woody, chemmy sweetness complemented by a gassy, berry musk before maintaining grainy, pie-like flavours throughout the mostly smooth experience, with occasional splashes of diesel. Offering a blissful, slightly stoney cerebral buzz that settles as lazy relaxation with possible sedation in higher doses, this Forbidden Fruit was of above-average potency. Efficacy & Potency: 8/10 Aroma, Taste & Enjoyment: 9.5/10 Bud Structure & Development: 9/10 Score: 89-92 Grade: AAAA -------- Full Disclosure: This is a donated product that will result in 7g of flower being gifted by 416 Strains towards our Cannabis for Good initiative. Please visit our Community Resources page for more details – 416 Strains is committed to grading every cultivar objectively for our Canadian cannabis database.Jul 12, 2021
Sour Diesel 1g Disposable Distillate Pen - Kootenay Botanicals - June 2021
/u/thechronickid_00
Brand : LÖÖK It's been a long while since having any kind of portable smoking device with all the extra stay at home time. I've always been a bong and joint guy but now as my summer work has resumed I couldn't be happier to have one of these on hand. My usual preference would be something a little heavier and multi faceted than distillate but it definitely still gets the job done for a quick hitting, functional buzz with focused, clear headed effects. Ideal for taking a few toots here and there, adding a little spice to the day when smoking joints or ripping bongs aren't options. This particular pen came equipped with a Sour Diesel cart, providing quite the smooth and pleasant tasting distillate with no harshness or throat irritation whatsoever as I sometimes experience with disty. The flavours are a subtle mix of citrus and spice. Nothing too crazy or artificial tasting which is nice as I don't want to feel like I'm vaping flavoured nicotine. Rechargeable as well with a full charge lasting an impressive couple of days of frequent use.Jun 25, 2021
Cherry Sherbert- Kootenay Botanicals ( Skookum BC)- June 2021
/u/lemieux6262
Pretty sure this is only my second experience with receiving flower in a can and it was just as enjoyable as the last. As I cracked the jar it was initially some sour notes of orange or tart berries, followed closely by sweet doughy cream. This seemed to elevate further with notes of overripe or rotten fruit and musky odours the longer I had the can to my nose. Humidity also appeared on point with the exterior of the buds being crisp; interior being sticky and stems snapping easily under stress. Really appealing to me. The buds themselves were beautiful with light green backgrounds with patches of darker greens on the edge purple, plus long and wispy deep orange pistils. Trim was perfection and the buds were relatively well handled even after fitting snugly in a “tuna can”. The exterior of the buds was surprisingly heady on most areas of the medium to large sized buds. A closer look revealed winding and twisting stalks with medium sized globular heads with varying degrees of maturity. Smoke was smooth but did hit the lungs with some sharpness, burning a clean light grey ash with a heavy oil ring following the ember closely. Flavors were fruit forward with sugary sweetness plus creamy gas flavors on exhale. Which was only found to be more enjoyable in a bong, producing satisfying and heavy hits. Effects hit just as hard with as intensely cerebral effects that made it difficult to accomplish a whole lot of anything. This initial zoned out cerebral phase: then transitioned into a more relaxed and balanced high as I found myself mellowing out; enjoying the heavy physical body load settling into my limbs. Something I’ll most likely make use of in the evenings as I couldn’t seem to stop myself from going in on “one more rip” every time I busted this strain out.Jun 22, 2021
Strawberry Dream (Skookum) - Sourced by Kootenay Botanicals - June 2021
/u/thechronickid_00
Full album : https://imgur.com/a/xgLFRS9 (Skookum Canned Cannabis) Genetics : Strawberry Jerry x Blue Dream Not to be confused with the Strawberry Cough x Blue Dream cut, this Skookum cultivar ups the anti by pairing Blue Dream with one of my most memorable strains ever, Strawberry Jerry. Bright green in colour with faint hints of purple and copper orange pistils throughout, all submerged in a sea of frosty white trichomes. The buds are extremely sticky and fresh with a soft, squishy texture. The gooey, grinder jamming kind. It's terrifically cured and has no problems with the burn whatsoever for how fresh it is. It's fair share of extra foliage would be the only knock on the overall appearance. Arriving in a tin can with a 62% Boveda within. This is exactly the type of profile I anticipated based on this Strawberry Dream's lineage. A delicious tropical concoction of candied strawberries and sweet berries. The Strawberry Jerry is definitely the more present of the two parents with the Blue Dream further adding to it's fruity pungency. The transition to flavour is a seamless one as it mimics the same terpenes found in the fragrance, delivering a pleasant strawberry nuanced smoke that lingers on the taste buds with a slight spicy herbalness as well. Smooth as you'd like, paired with a sizeable resin ring and fluffy white ash with the smallest amount of peppering. A wonderful sativa based high that has been my go to for wake and bakes or when needing a pick me up. Heavily euphoric and uplifting with it's social and mood enhancing tendencies. Just a very happy-go-lucky strain in general with potent cerebral effects and just the slightest bit of relaxation. One of those strains that can be indulged in whenever desired but especially shines in the mornings and afternoons as it doesn't slow you down or fatigue you one bit.Jun 20, 2021

Skookum cans sourced by Kootenay Botanicals. (1) Looks: Big fat top colas greens and oranges blanketed with a coat of shiny crystals. Buds so big I wonder how they got them in the can really beautiful . (2) Smell: This being a Tropicana cross has a light citrus tangie smell . When you grind it up it gets more spicey very hard to describe but very pleasant. For the terp chasers this one should be tried atleast once. Unique! (3) Flavor: long lingering unique tangy but not really orange or lemony but still get a tangy feel on inhail more spice on the exhail tastes like it smells yum. (4) Buzz: sticky icky i know that's not buzz but I figured I'd say this one is gonna gum up even the best grinders . Now with that says heavy strong makes me wanna relax and sleep heavy burn out on the back end if your active better have a coffee or red bull handy. teamcraft #kootenaybotanicals forgive me for the string took the picture before my morning coffeeJun 19, 2021
Cherry Sherbet - Kootenay Botanicals - May 2021
/u/416strains
Arriving as highly resinous medium nugs showing moderate signs of handling, this Cherry Sherbet (Cherry Pie x Sour Sherbet) has an inviting aroma of sour, tangy fruit over a cake-like, sweet musk in the jar. This indica-leaning hybrid leads with a woody, fruity sweetness complemented by a sharp gassy pungency and some surprising harshness before settling as doughy, berry-flavoured baked goods, and finally concluding as grainy, peppery diesel. Offering strong, spacey cerebral effects that subside as physical relaxation, improved appetite, and mild sedation, this Cherry Sherbet was effectively potent and is well suited for afternoons and evenings. Efficacy & Potency: 8.5/10 Aroma, Taste & Enjoyment: 8.5/10 Bud Structure & Development: 8.5/10 Score: 88-91 Grade: AAAA- -------- Full Disclosure: This is a donated product that will result in 7g of flower being gifted by 416 Strains towards our Cannabis for Good initiative. Strawberry Dream - Kootenay Botanicals - June 2021

Beautiful minty green colours from this strain with lighter orange pistils and lovely coating of milky trichomes. Nugs were very fresh with a semi dense and slightly fluffy texture. Fairly loose trim leaving behind quite a few sugar leaf. The fragrance coming from these buds were lovely. With a mix of sweet berries, tropical notes and floral aromas. Upon smoking I immediately noticed the aromas were translating very nicely into the flavour with an added subtle herbal aftertaste. The high from this started out sativa leaning for me with a nice uplifted happy feeling not long after smoking that turned into more of a slight haziness with a mellowed vibe. This is a great strain for smoking throughout the day without any burnt out feeling.Jun 14, 2021
Forbidden Fruit - Kootenay Botanicals - June 2021

Full album : https://imgur.com/a/291T9sE Craft Series Forbidden Fruit (Skookum Canned Cannabis) Genetics : Cherry Pie x Tangie Sourced by : @kootenaybotanicals Like the Cherry Sherbert I previously reviewed, this tantalizing Forbidden Fruit is also part of Kootenay Botanicals' Craft Series. Arriving in an amber coloured glass jar equipped with a 62% Integra boost, keeping the buds fresh and at a perfect humidity level. Firm, densely structured, and sticky, accompanied by an impeccable trim and cure. The bag appeal is just off the charts on this Cherry Pie x Tangie cross and for once I'm just going to let the pictures do all the talking. The nose on this Forbidden Fruit is absolutely bonkers. The first thing that comes to mind is an extremely sweet smelling fruit juice but one that is berry and grape leaning, followed by hints of cherries as well. Intoxicating and highly addictive, being one of the best smelling strains I've had in some time. Great tasting as well, just not as fruity leaning, offering more of a sweet and spicy accented smoke with a slight pine taste on exhale. Once you fully blow out the smoke you start to taste a bit of the Tangie as well lingering behind on the tongue, more so noticed in a bong over a joint. Burns smooth and greasy with a light salt and pepper coloured ash, providing a thick but smooth smoke. An uplifted, cheerful high that wastes no time to let it's presence be known in the form of a strong head stone with unfocused, zoned out effects. Extremely easy to drift off into something and inefficiently lose track of time. It eventually settles into more of a body high with mellowing, stress relieving qualities along with a general sense of comfort and tranquillity. The ideal type of indica leaning hybrid to wind down with later on in the day, packing a decent potency and longevity. Beautiful quality all around once again.Jun 07, 2021
Cherry Sherbert - Kootenay Botanicals - June 2021
/u/thechronickid_00
Full album : https://imgur.com/a/QPK8xVT Craft Series Cherry Sherbert (Skookum Canned Cannabis) Genetics : Cherry Pie x Sour Sherbert Terrific bag appeal on these scrumptious looking nugs of Cherry Sherbert. A fruity indica hybrid cross between between Cherry Pie and Sour Sherbert. Arriving in an amber glass jar with a 62% rH Integra boost, leaving the buds feeling dense and moderately sticky with a firm, snappy texture to them. A combination of light and dark greens make up their complexion, paired with thin, delicate orange pistils and a sea of glistening trichome heads. All topped off by a superb trim and cure. I love myself a Cherry Pie cross when done right and this one certainly fits the bill with it's delightful terpene profile. It definitely takes a minute to fully decipher the complex aromas that emerge upon opening the jar. It starts off smelling of sweet, ripened cherries, almost like a wine as it has that fermented fruit kind of aroma, followed by notes of sour herbs and earth. When it comes to the smoke it produces a sour, fruity, slightly herbal flavour with a sharp taste of dank earth on the exhale. Punchy but smooth smoking, burning with a light grey ash and thick resin ring. I remember smoking a single bowl of this Cherry Sherbert on the first day it arrived and my first impression was : "wow, this stuff is potent"... Many sessions later and I'm still saying the same thing after every bowl. Goes straight to the head in a furious fashion, bringing forth powerful cerebral effects that leave me heavily spaced out every time. Not a good one for focusing at all as I constantly found myself getting distracted between tasks. Much better suited for kicking back or hanging out with friends. It's also quite the mood lifter with it's relaxing and stress relieving qualities, making it a great afternoon and evening strain to wind down with.Jun 03, 2021
Ice Cream Sandwiches - Kootenay Botanicals - June 2021
/u/thechronickid_00
Full album : https://imgur.com/a/N6Boylk Genetics : Ice Cream Cake #3 x Fleetwood MAC #100 Sourced by : @kootenaybotanicals Bred by : @litfarms Always exciting to try a strain that's completely new to me and one quick glance at this Ice Cream Sandwiches' lineage told me more than I needed to know. A match made in heaven to say the least, combining Ice Cream Cake #3 and Fleetwood MAC #100. I think I've found my new love as everyone knows I'm an ICC and MAC fanatic; not to mention she's a looker too with her beautiful arrangement of soft pastel colours and impressive trichome population. These perfectly manicured buds are extremely dense and sticky to the touch with an exquisite cure to match, arriving with a 62% rH Integra boost humidity pack as did the other strains I'll be reviewing. (Cherry Sherbert and Forbidden Fruit - Skookum Craft Series) A nose that is 100% fully deserving of it's name as it smells good enough to eat. Creamy and doughy with a touch of MAC's fruity funky goodness. All wrapped up in a minty coolness that becomes noticeable on the tail end of a sniff. Translates flawlessly to taste with a creamy but dank smoke as it produces those same funky fruity MAC flavours found in the smell, accompanied by a cool mint exhale. The aromas it produces when combusted are all MAC and it's simply amazing how it effortlessly fills up my entire house. Super smooth and greasy burning from start to finish with a thick oil ring and light salt and pepper ash. A real potent clash of spacey and uplifting effects met with an effective burst of euphoria, leaving you feeling completely elated and zen like. The MAC seems to really play a role and influence the effects as it leaves you contently stoned yet still engaged enough to be creative and somewhat functional. There is however a bit of a slow building body buzz that seems to creep in towards the end of the high and can leave you slightly tired and lazy. Not heavily debilitating more so than it is relaxing and carefree, making It an enjoyable and versatile hybrid. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.Jun 02, 2021
