LSO Sophie's Breath - Kootenay Craft - June 2021
/u/nevertoomany
It had been a while since i ordered off KC, very happy to be back! Great daytime smoke. The large bud in the pic is 4.5 gr and as usual came in a nice little jar with Boveda. Nose is a bit muted but a very pleasant earthy, sweet smell. Moisture, burn, flavor etc all on point. Highly recommend!Jun 26, 2021
Grease Monkey - Kootenay Craft - May 2021
/u/416strains
Arriving slightly dry as resinous large nugs with tidy trim, this Grease Monkey (Cookies and Cream x GG4) has a sweetly sour, earthy freshness in the jar, becoming gassier when ground. This indica-leaning hybrid begins as a woody, gassy sweetness that becomes stingingly pungent before transitioning through some grainy, peppery moments, and finally maintaining an earthy, gassy, and doughy sweetness for the remainder of the smooth experience. Offering a moderate initial cerebral buzz that descends into stoney, mellow relaxation, this Grease Monkey was of average potency. Efficacy & Potency: 7.5/10 Aroma, Taste & Enjoyment: 9/10 Bud Structure & Development: 8.75/10 Score: 87-90 Grade: AAAA- -------- Full Disclosure: This is a donated product that will result in 7g of flower being gifted by 416 Strains towards our Cannabis for Good initiative. Holy Water - Kootenay Craft - June 2021
/u/Max_Stirner_Official
This is a middle-of-the-road offering from KC in their "Top Shelf" category. Looks like it's sold out now. This is great looking bud. Nice chunky nugs (the one pictured is 3.10g and isn't the largest in the ounce). Super fresh and squishy, and covered in trichomes. The smell is a great whopping smack of sweet cheese, and that comes through in the vape as well. This is the energizing sativa I've been waiting for; seems like anything that comes from a Super Silver Haze cross goes right to the top of my list. Energetic and relatively clean-headed high.Jun 10, 2021
Do-Si-Dos - Kootenay Craft - May 2021 (Preview)
/u/416strains
First observation is that these are likely two diff phenos? They smell pretty similar, but this will be written from trying the less-impressive and leafier green nug. Some visible spider mite damage can be seen in both nugs, with a corresponding deduction in the scoring Do-Si-Dos (OGKB GSC x Face Off OG) has traditionally been a preferred hybrid for its tendency to offer balanced, functional relaxation, an enjoyable body buzz, and some cerebral stimulation so was excited to see this included for review Nugs are still slightly sticky to the touch, with a woody, earthy, and slightly herbal sweetness in jar, becoming much nuttier and gassier when ground. Experience begins as a woody, perfumey/floral and slightly dank sweetness, then settles as a familiar earthy, gassy, kushy sweetness and finishes as peppery diesel. (The early floral notes are not my favourite, personally, but then the gas comes in to balance things out) Some cerebral euphoria at first but mostly a functional stone with a modest body buzz that creeps in over time. Prob 8.25 or 8.5 Potency in our Database scale as of now. Overall quite enjoyed this indica-leaning hybrid - the cerebral buzz creeps in more and more over time in an overall-relaxing experience Expected 416 Database Score: 87-90 AAA+ Full Disclosure: This is a donated product that will result in 7g of flower being gifted by 416 Strains towards our Cannabis for Good initiative. Chocolate Fondue - Kootenay Craft - May 2021
/u/Max_Stirner_Official
For $180, this is pretty perfect. Looks fantastic, smells nice and earthy/musty. Taste is about as expected with a chocolatey-earthy flavour. Nugs are medium to largish; the one pictured was 3.79g. Still fresh ans squishy, no crumbliness at all. High is sedating for a sativa-dominant hybrid, but does give strange little boosts that annoyingly fade away right about in the middle of the thing they inspired you to do. Also helps to ease into a nice sleep, so more an afternoon evening weed, where I was hoping for a morning sativa. Nonetheless, this is good stuff at this price, and I probably wouldn't have complained if it was a little more expensive, either. Solid 4/5 stuff.May 15, 2021
Crown Chakra - Kootenay Craft - Apr 2021 (Preview)
/u/416strains
This first dropped in Feb or March I believe, but I got the re-up batch as part of their 4/20 promo and I'm pretty sure this will end up being my favourite of what we tried from this source in April Listed as the sativa-dominant offspring of Sour Diesel x Blackberry x White Widow x an unknown Thai sativa, this Crown Chakra arrived slightly dry but with a pronounced nose that is woody, musky and herbal, with an underlying sweetness in the jar. Really attractive, highly resinous medium nugs that came in chunky, funky shapes - I felt horrible about breaking these nugs down. Found this fairly smooth and quite flavourful along the same lines as its aroma, though it's a bit harder to describe all of the sour and fruity notes on this, likely 9 Enjoyment score Would describe the experience as an uplifting but slightly stony/foggy cerebral buzz that builds and builds over time before descending as physical relaxation and improved appetite, with a tiny bit of burnout.. I happened to try/review this alongside some Violet Vixen from the same source, and I found that hybrid to be more heady and uplifting, with this Crown Chakra feeling more like a balanced strain between the two Excited to get to know this better over time, but have really enjoyed photographing this cultivar while getting acclimated to new equipment - kudos to the grower + source for getting such beautiful flowers to us with minimal signs of handling Expected 416 Database Score: 89-92 AAAA Full Disclosure: Subsequent to our reviews, we are humbled that Kootenay Craft has become one of our approved charitable sponsors. Woolly Mammoth - Kootenay Craft - Apr 2021 (Preview)
/u/416strains
Arriving as a giant purple nug with long bright orange pistils plus some smaller nugs to complete the weight, this Woolly Mammoth (LA Confidential x Snowcap) has a modest aroma of woody, slightly berry-sweetened baked goods in the jar.. Not super loud, but its nose has grown on me over time Flavour-wise, this begins mostly woody, musky before settling into an unexceptional earthy sweetness with surprising splashes of berries and baked goods at the end.. In terms of the experience, this balanced cultivar turns out to be right up my alley as a euphoric experience that hits fairly quickly before slowly subsiding into some physical relaxation, more heady than I was expecting which is always appreciated. Overall I think I enjoy the experience more than the flavour profile on this one, solid daytimer Always a pleasure photographing beautiful purple buds as well - the colours really jump out in the macro images, really glad to have experienced this cultivar Expected 416 Database Score: 87-90 AAAA- Full Disclosure: This is a donated product that will result in 7g of flower being gifted by 416 Strains towards our Cannabis for Good initiative. Hempstar / Kootenay Craft / April 21
/u/Cronnoisseur420
Hempstar is an all time great that I grew up on. Famous OG strain that I had to grab for 420 to help me reminisce of the good ole days. 17 years ago... I was smoking this strain all through high school and for many many years after. It was the go to for quads where I grew up. You couldn’t get it all the time but when you did all your friends knew what was up. This stuff from Kootenay craft is an absolutely perfect representation of the strain. Bag apeal to the max, as usual for hempstar and KC. Huge nugs with crazy light green and an even more yellow colour inside, multiple layers of trichromes throughout! High: love hempstar high it’s so relaxing and focusing the perfect combo! Really helps take the edge off at the start of the day and lowers my anxiety and stress. This strain is high to medium high potency that won’t burn you out hard. Burn: this weed burns clean and it’s got an amazing cure to it. Still sticky and fresh. Burns slow with a smooth exhale. Taste: this tastes like the early 2000’s to me but more pronounced for sure!! Amazing way to reminisce on the wonderful and dank hazy terps of this all time OG.Apr 17, 2021
