Kootenay Craft: Cactus Breath and Watermelon
thinkbach
Kootenay Craft: Cactus Breath and Watermelon overall : ordered once using the $50 off first-time order and it was great weed : look very much forward to purchasing from them again ordering & pricing : easy enough sign-up, might have had to send a scan of a health card, can’t remember : fair prices, nice $50-off sign up bonus : free shipping with orders over $140; reasonable packaging : shipped in a bubble sealed envelope : comes in plastic containers with generic labels and a boveda inside incentive for customers : the $50-off first-purchase sign-up is sweet : fucking amazing weed! the site : beautiful pictures of the weed : without a doubt some unique crafty weed : notable is what they call ‘living soil’ weed, worth reading about : weed is arranged in three categories: platinum, top shelf, canadian select : other products include distillates, concentrates, shatter, etc. incentive for review : fun to write, fun to share : no incentives offered by kootenay craft other than the chance to buy some great weed Cactus Breath https://kootenaycraft.com/product/cactus-breath/ incentive to purchase : this is legendary weed, which is part of my thing, coming late to the wild west of weed cultivation, and sometimes it’s nice to get something spectial. cactus breath is special. general impression : a couple of years before i started toking again some guy told me the weed in the kootenays was the best. for a long time all i had were my memories of reading high times and smoking sinsemilla in the 80s before i withdrew from the scene. so i come looking for these fancy-schmancy “legendary strains” with some pretty big expectations. and i was pretty excited to try cactus breath after reading about it. here are some of the things which happened when i toked it. first responder response : wow, maybe don’t want to do too much of that at once. smooth smoke, big rip, no cough. read about the flavor a lot and yes, it is very tasty, bit like lapsang suchong. lingers afterwards in the nasal passages, forehead taste, strong head-hold, powerful sting, that white-noise hiss. feeling it physically in the lobes, inside around the eyes, trippy as shit, serious, fun, but hey! balanced? soft? seems like it. still, maybe don’t do too much at once. then there’s that issue of maybe making it last because you know you want to smoke as much as you want! someone says, ‘it’s fucking surged up my face man, but i see why it’s cactus it’s like a prickly, ee! right in the face.’ yes, lots of tingles. what is that? is that nerve-endings? feeling it in the follicles. love that. micro-shivers. love it. wow, a whole dome of tingly energy in the follicles. noticeably unique. nice. if i had to smoke one weed only and live in a sci-fi paperback it might be cactus breath. great fucking name. i have a helmet of happy fire around my head. thank you weed. now, let’s see where it goes... meditation : in a word, spectacular. 3-4 hours in and after a second visit to the bong, a nice little whm breath hold, 2.50 mins, the cranial corona produced by the weed vivid throughout, indeed it exploded. but it was a fully detached journey, lots of golden energy, until surfacing into a full-on ten minute relaxed infusion of energy breathing, very comfortable in detachment, (feels almost out of body but there is only embodied); wow, the relaxation into heightened focus is the best i’ve had with weed so far, can only imagine going deeper. and the tingliness of a breath-hold matches nicely with the cactus tingles. if you’re into the altered-states type meditations, cactus breath seems ideal; pranayama, baby! this herb, wow. couple days later : there is a definite sense of comfort and well-being associated with this weed now. take a small hit, go back to work for an hour or two; smooth, happy, well-being. it is very favorable to breath work, energy meditations, and probably great for doing outdoor activities. it’s a strong high with an agreeable level of support. words like ‘that’s the best weed ever man’ have floated around our millenial household because there’s no question a single toke delivers. greedy too. we share the other stuff, but not this. except we want to boast! every review i’ve read remarks on look and taste, and that is there for sure; it is a bit exotic, like a treasured pick of tea, and almost edible. capers, shallots, cremini mushrooms, basil, garlic, olive oil, and no doubt many more seem to be echoed in this weed’s odor and appearance, which in our case was nice medium buds. definitely caked in crystal, as stated in other positive reviews out there. no question this weed is not like most others, and it is better for it. two weeks in : apart from hoarding the last few nugs, this is go-to evening focus time; we write for hours, watch tv for hours, clean house, meditate, whatever. it’s kind of the perfect long-lasting and heavy stone for a head like me. a layered stone. and i would say more than most weed, a living stone. very interactive. if you believe in communing with the spirit of the bud, this would be a good doorway. bonus review: watermelon https://kootenaycraft.com/product/watermelon/ : never tried watermelon before. tight buds, lots of crystals, dusty with ‘em, and a rich fruity aroma. breaks up nice. two tiny hits in a glass pipe, go sit down with a jolt of a quad in brain from earlier, wondering what this will do. a minute in, faint, then the nice heavy creep into a strong head hold. definitely a nice overall body high, but with a clear path to focus on thoughts and brainwork. a nice heaviness, not too draggy. notable are the buds which look like little romanescos. they also smell heavily of watermelon, and the weed tastes like watermelon. this got everyone talking about how terpenes are the same in weed as in watermelon etc. strong watermelon smell and taste, coupled with effects, made for a pleasant mid-to-heavy-hitting indica with a bit of focus. conclusion : kootenay craft offers great tasty weed. their best is a bit pricy, but the first-time buy deal gives us a try. as for the future in this house we all discuss getting more cactus breath the next time it’s not sold out on the site. stuff sells fast, so if you’re curious, jump on it. watermelon is very nice weed but i’m not sure i’d prioritize it. we are a bit more curious about kootenay craft’s living soil weeds at this point than getting more watermelon, though i can easily see getting more in the future on an impulse buy. it’s very tasty and delivers. thanks for reading and have a great high! thanks thinkbachMar 12, 2019
Cactus breath - KC - early March
/u/bcbudreport
It’s really nice . Great bag(jar) appeal. Good looking nugs, perfect moisture . Smell is out of this world. I can’t explain it really , my girlfriend thinks it smells a bit like aloe, with a hint of sweet cucumber? It’s a treat every time to open the jar and twist one up. Burns nice, unique taste and a pretty potent sativa leaning hybrid. Quad in my eyes!Mar 11, 2019
Strawberry Jerry-Kootenay Craft-March 2019
/u/TAqcan
Smell and taste : Wow this cannabis literally smell and also taste like strawberry. Its got no weed smell at all, just a pleasing strong strawberry odor. Its the first time I've ever gotten weed with that much terpenes. Amazing ! Look and appearances: I ordered 7g and it was just this pictured 3.9g nug and the rest were about 0.7g buds. Very nice to get big dense buds. This weed was also the perfect kind of sticky, loaded with trichomes also. Very good looking weed. Effects : This was a pure sativa, works really well to focus on a task, have a conversation or clean around. I am mostly an indica lover, but it still got me satisfyingly high. Overall would buy again just for the smell and taste, even though it is not the most potent (for me) I think the experience of smoking goes beyond just the potency with this kind of quality cannabis.Mar 10, 2019
Living soil God's Bubba-Kootenay Craft-March 2019
/u/TAqcan
Smell and taste : Strong smell of berries mixed with a hint of fuel. When exhaled, the taste of the fuel comes more through it but it also tastes more woody than fruity when smoked. Look and appearances: Most of the buds were about 0.7 to 1g in size. That is to be expected with the bubba genetics. The trim job on all buds were perfect. They were very sticky and were coated in sparkly trichomes. Most buds were dark purple with hints of green. Effects : First let me say this was burning with clean white ashes. It was a very potent indica that started with a very cerebral effects which turns to a heavy sedative body high. Definitely good in the evening/night. Took me by surprise with my high tolerance. Overall very satisfied with this as it was my first Kootenay experience and also first time smoking living soil cannabis. Will surely be grabbing more of this.Mar 10, 2019

Living Soil Oregon Golden Goat - Kootenay Craft - Mar 2019
/u/416strains
An impressively-potent sativa-leaning hybrid with ideal energizing effects, this fragrant Living Soil Oregon Golden Goat boasts sharp, distinct aromatics of sour, dank citrus with lemony-sweet pine notes. Arriving as attractive medium nugs of perfect freshness, this Oregon Golden Goat led with a minty citrus taste before easing into its slightly-sweet, earthy flavour for the duration of the enjoyable experience. Offering clean, functional motivation without any of the buzzy ‘Haze’ effects commonly associated with other sativas, this relaxed-but-uplifting Oregon Golden Goat has become one of our favourite strains for productivity. Efficacy & Potency: 8.5/10 Aroma, Taste & Enjoyment: 9/10 Bud Structure & Visual Appeal: 9/10 **Score: 89-92** **Grade: AAAA-** As always, lots more photos + full reviews at the site. Put bluntly - this Golden Goat has been our fave new sativa for quite some time, prob since the CWF Apple Pie in Nov? Love it, fairly-potent with really clean effects and a delightful/unique aroma. Might bump it up one more notch in scoring over time, but being conservative for now. Strains on Deck: Living Soil Cherrygasm (KC), ICED Grapefruit (CWF), Strawberry Jerry (KC), Do-Si-Dos (BHO), Grapefruit (BHO), Gelato (EGM), Death Bubba (ACM), Romulan (ACM). Interesting thoughts. I seem to have it with decent nose, flavour lacks, decent potency and a bit harsh of a smoke.Mar 04, 2019
Kootenay Craft - Febuary - 4 strains review

*These products were received for free but the review is non-biased and objective despite that* MOM Name Kootenay Craft Overall rating out of 10: 9/10 Sign Up: Been registered for a long time, was simple but took a bit of time to get approved. Ordering & Pricing: This was a free order, but their system is pretty simple and streamlined. They have 50$ welcome2019 code for new clients and an automatic 20% taken off when you combined 4 or more quarters. Communication: They used to be very anemic and slow in replies but they've picked up the pace a lot lately. Invited them to Discord recently and they've been relatively active. Clear improvements in the past couple of months! Packaging: Plastic jars, boveda, vacuumed and put in a bubbler, I think a lot of MOMs should take notes here, jars/cans/etc really make a huge difference on end user experience. Products / Photos: Jorge's Diamonds https://i.imgur.com/zNxZc7d.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4lZUgXw.jpg My quarter came as 2 big buds of approx 3.5g each. Just like last time, this strain really is stunning. On a background of varying greens, you have an abundance of light colored pistils and the buds are nicely caked, it's gorgeous. Unfortunately, this batch came in very dry (despite the provided boveda), it's really dry to the core and it has very little nose. The nose reminds me of classic Bubba Kush but Leafly informs me it's lineage isn't clear. Once broken up, I hoped a little more nose would come out, but nope, it's dry to the core and doesn't have much taste. The first back I had of this last summer was super fresh, so it's a bit of a deception to see the dramatic difference in freshness. The other batch was still a very mild nose (from memory). Smoking this, it actually tasted better than the last batch. There isn't much terps coming through (the other seemed peppery but I'm getting none of this now), but it's a superbly smooth smoke. The buzz is a bit of a creeper, but this batch felt less potent than the previous. I'd qualify it as a light/medium indica. Giving this a 6.5/10, it's alright, but the fresher batch I got last summer was much better. Living Soil God's Bubba https://i.imgur.com/Urs6TAJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2Koyhlo.jpg First ever Living Soil weed I try (as far as I know anyway). I had been told the terps are off the charts with Living Soil and cracking the jar open confirmed the theory, of the 4 jars in this order, this is by far the heaviest smelling. The smell is a mix of gas and wild berries. I didn't quite grasp it fresh but smoking it (more on that later) it reminded me of GG4 a bit. The buds weren't very big but they were extremely dense. The trip is extremely close, there are like no leaves on those whatsoever. The microscope pic shows there isn't all that much trichomes, very weird bud structure overall. The colors are very nice, the buds have a slightly dark hue with purple spots here and there. The purple hinge on blue, making for a pretty alien looking bud. The colors on my pics aren't quite right btw, colors are washed a bit. Last note on appearance is how sticky these buds were, breaking the buds by hand I could feel the stickiness and proper humidity inside the buds as well. I had great hopes for this, just toking on the unlit joint provided a very nice taste. The taste once lit however was a bit of a deception, the terps are coming through alright, but there is a harshness that comes with them in an almost equal measure, making it a mixed experience. I've often noticed that with very sticky weed, the smoke is often a bit harsh like that. I mentioned the smell profile being close to GG4, I only had GG4 once from a MOM and it was a similar smoking experience, nice terps mixed with a harshness. Despite all this, it wasn't a bad smoke at all, just very flavorful. The buzz is pretty strong, not too couch locky, but definitely a strong body buzz. Unlike the other 2, I didn't smoke the whole joint, I was baked enough before reaching the end. Giving this one a 8/10. Banana Kush https://i.imgur.com/vKZL2jL.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rE3GHug.jpg A skunk cross always interests me, but this is a very tame one. The nose wasn't very strong, but it did smell very fresh and nice. The terp profile feels like a mix of ripe bananas mixed with spices. Very pleasant an intriguing smell, very unique. There are zero hints of skunk in it, not very gassy. The flowers came fresh and plush, the buds are similar to the Tangerine Cookies, a bit hairy, some rather large leaves left on them, but the buds have a decent size. The colors are very nice, the core of the bud itself is very light green, almost tan but the outside is a light green with tan hues. The hairs are brownish, making those buds very pleasing to look at, brown, light green, tans (almost yellow), superb. The humidity is good and breaking the buds open and grinding them released extra smell. The smoke is extremely smooth, huge rips are not a problem. There isn't much taste coming through but the little that does is very good, mostly sweet and ripe fruit, bit creamy. The buzz was not very strong. Leafly describes it as a indica dominant strain, but shows effects mostly associated with sativa. I definitely agree with this, the buzz I got felt definitely more sativa than typical indica. There was barely any body buzz, mostly a smooth and chill headbuzz. Giving this a 7.5/10. This is in their #2 Top tier grade, so AAA, it's well priced but don't pick this if you want a heavy hitter. Tangerine Cookies https://i.imgur.com/5GHI8ee.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AnR25S1.jpg I cracked the seal open and put my nose into the jar... the smell is strong, it has smell of overripe citrus rind, tiny very subtle hint of pine mixed in, the name fits well it does smell like tangerines. Those who have been following my reviews know I'm not a fan of cookies, but these are different somehow, I don't get even an hint of pepper which I've found to be in all GSC crosses. In fact, I don't get any of what I associate with GSC in this. In the jar, I had one very big bud (eyeballing it probably 4g) and several popcorn buds. The big bud was more of a bunch of popcorn buds on a skewer, with quite a bit of leaves filling the gaps. Very airy, loose bud overall. I have a feeling the buds are all popcorn in reality :) All that said, the cure is very good, there is good humidity, very nice soft texture, great stuff. While smoking it, there was a deja vu feeling, the terp profile and smoothness really reminds of of Slurricane... But there was something else, it also kinda tastes like Southern Comfort. Pleasant smoke, tasted great until the last puff in a joint, smooth, light gray almost white smoke, real good burn. The buzz is pretty strong for a sativa leaning hybrid, mostly cerebral with a small body buzz. Giving this a 8.5/10. Incentive for Customers: As stated before nice welcome code, 20% mix and match. I've been told to contact them via email for bulk options. Incentive for Review: Product was offered for free for a honest review. Notes: N/aMar 03, 2019
