Headbanger crosses Sour Diesel and Biker Rush. I consider this to be one of those “if you know, you know” strains. Ive had this a couple times prior and it always leaves me with eyebrows up, as one of my old colleagues used to say.
Appearance: 8.8/10 - I will say that I am a fan of S...kookum but have to be fair with the gradings. This one came in with a really nice cure but the buds were a bit smaller and a bit larfy. What saves its rating is that they are caked in trichomes and leave your fingers resinous and tacky after handling. They are bright and fresh in colour and perhaps the plant is not a dense cola producer, I believe this takes 11 weeks to flower.
Smell: 9.4/10 - loud and gassy but in a sweeter, fresh grated ginger territory. Really alluring and powerful aroma, curious what its lab test said.
Taste: 9.6/10 - Very impressive flavour endurance, it is flavourful from tip to roach with a sweet and creamy gassy flavour with a smooth inhale and resinous and expansive feel to the smoke.
High: 9.5/10 - Hard charging and strong immediacy, it first builds with a humming pressure behind the eyes and face but settles into a stoney body melt. Nicely stimulating and focused, I enjoyed smoking this before a Brazilian jiu-jitsu class, as it left me in a present but creative state.
Overall: 9.4/10 -This was a real performer, showed up to impress every single joint. Would get again if I see it online.
There’s been a lot of character in the descriptions over at Skookum and I’ve been lured in once again. Touted as the original Grease pheno that started the craze, let’s see how she stacks up.
Appearance: 9.7/10 - honestly I can only dock a couple points for some flat edges on the b...uds, in my picture of it in my hand is almost the full tin. So densely formed and tightly manicured, all the trichs left intact. Really attractive thick mountainous formations.
Smell: 9.4/10 - loud, nutty and gassy, this smells like it would wreck you.
Flavour: 9.6/10 - this smokes beautifully, skunky and gassy with toasted nuts, the flavour endures throughout an entire J. Very smooth and expansive/resinous smoke.
High: 9.5/10 - very potent with exceptional immediacy. I am feeling it mid joint, calms racing thoughts and eases aches and pains with a body centric melt, great for a post workout or a late night content binge.
Overall: 9.6/10 - this stuff is rude being as good as it is, gets me in all the right spots with a formidable slam. Would get again (& again)
The newsletter drew me into this one, with attractive genetics and a super alluring description, I was prepared for a flavourful experience.
Appearance: 9.1/10 - attractive blends of colour, tightly manicured and cured to the standard you’d expect from Skookum. My pictures were taken i...n the light of my kitchen so they don’t do it proper justice, I’m thinking of getting a mini light tent.
Smell: 9.6/10 - wow, you love to see strains that smell just like their name. This one smells literally like a cookies & cream bar, with that oreo wafer and white chocolate creaminess
Flavour: 9.5/10 - following right through in the taste, it is all cookie and cream notes to smoke as well. Burns so clean to a white ash and is very smooth on the exhale.
High: 9.3/10 - I was pretty surprised at the potency for this cultivar, this one hits me in all the right spots. Organizes my racing thoughts, soothes aching muscles and leaves me in a pleasantly uplifted euphoria.
Overall: 9.4/10 - so glad I got this one, it really surprised me with its flavour and performance. Grab some while you can!
Animal Face has probably emerged as one of my new favourites, alongside Mint Choc Chip and Ice Cream Cake, when grown well it never fails to disappoint. This is maybe the nicest example I've had to date and I'm very stoked to review.
Appearance: 9.6/10 - Big chunky pieces in my ti...n, expertly cured, bright mantis green and violet hues and completely caked in frost. The cure is on point, touching the buds leaves your fingers oily and resinous.
Smell: 9.5/10 - Captivating to the senses, I get creamy meringue-like dessert alongside sweet gas, lacquered wood and aniseed.
Flavour: 9.6/10 - Strong flavour endurance from tip to roach, the creamy dessert notes and gas are most prominently featured. Very smooth but expansive.
High: 9.7/10 - A heavyweight in the effects department, this one hits me in all the places I need. Calms and aligns my racing thoughts while providing a soothing pain relief and buzzing stoniness throughout the body. Also I've identified this as sexytime weed, puts me and my partner in the mood, big time.
Overall: 9.6/10 - This is a must-try in my opinion, I'm hoping to get another tin of it before it's gone. Burns to a nearly white ash with a grease ring, can osoto gari you to the mat if you trifle with it, but also provides a really present and engaged stone that is great for connection.
Mandarin Cookies has a name that just calls to you, and Cal from support tipped me off that the buds in here are a sight to behold. I am truly getting spoiled with the level of quality that Skookum has been putting out, this was no exception.
Appearance: 9.7/10 - Wild looking and huge al...ien-esque buds, flourished with purples and blues and coated in trichomes while the calyxes are densely formed. My tin was no more than 6 pieces. Tightly trimmed and a true quad in every sense.
Smell: 9.2/10 - Aged wood, perfumy citrus and cream comprise the aroma, has a bit of an attic-like quality.
Flavour: 9.4/10 - Nicely expansive while smooth on the exhale (burns to a nearly white ash) where it imparts a doughy sweet, citrus & spice flavour. Very enjoyable to smoke.
High: 9.4/10 - This is a versatile smoke that I would enjoy about any time of day. A bit of cerebral snappiness while a sense of well-being pervades you. Great for mood enhancement or tackling the daily minutiae with a bleary-eyed grin.
Overall: 9.4/10 - These buds are insane looking, grown insanely well, and it performs well in a joint. Very stoked to have the opportunity to smoke Skookum, they've done me good so far.
I have tried lots of Skookum tins over my years and for whatever reason I avoid Sherbert (sunset sherb in particular). I think those days are numbered, saw a good review of this tin and wanted to give it a go. This one is a dark horse, and continues to surprise me with its potent kick.
A...ppearance: 9.2/10 - mostly grape sized buds with some really striking bluish purple hues and a generous coating of trichs. Not super sticky but fresh on the cure, rolls beautifully and is a great performer in a joint.
Smell: 9.1/10 - this one is a bit hard to describe, and not what I was expecting really. It reminds me of cider and sliced radish. Pretty complex and interesting.
Flavour: 9.1/10- very smooth and expansive smoke, is earthy and sweet with a bit of spice.
High: 9.4/10 - potency that commands respect, really enjoying this at the end of the day for winding down and relaxing. It also worked well for me alongside some gaming (Apex Legends), keeping me focused and calmed & giggly. Lots of fun, big enjoy.
