Where to Find True Craft Weed in Canada

Every shop in Canada says its weed is craft. The word is on quads, on budget ounces, on flower nobody can trace past the bag it came in. So the useful question is not who says craft. It is who can prove it.

There is one test that settles it almost every time, and it takes about ten seconds on a product page.

What craft is supposed to mean

Craft cannabis is small batch flower from a grower who controls the whole run. Smaller rooms, fewer plants, a proper dry and cure, hand trimmed, and released when it is ready instead of when the schedule says so.

None of that shows in a product photo. A dense purple nug looks the same whether it came from a ten light room in the Kootenays or a warehouse. Which is why the label on its own tells you nothing.

The ten second test: is the grower named?

Real craft has a name on it. Not the shop's name, the grower's.

A shop that actually buys from small producers knows exactly who grew each batch, and has every reason to tell you, because the grower's reputation is what makes the flower worth more. A shop selling anonymous bulk under a craft label cannot name anyone, because there is nobody to name.

So open the product and look for it. If the listing says who grew it, you are looking at something traceable. If every strain on the menu is just "AAAA craft" with no source, treat the word as decoration.

Four more things that back it up

The same growers keep showing up. A shop with real relationships carries run after run from the same handful of producers. You start recognising names across the menu.

The details are specific. How long it flowered. Whether it was grown in living soil. Whether you are buying full size buds or smalls from the same batch. Vague listings usually mean the seller does not know either.

Smalls are sold as smalls. Honest shops separate the small buds from a craft run and price them lower, instead of mixing them into a bag sold at the top rate.

Reviews name strains, not just the shop. "Fast shipping, great service" could be about anyone. Reviews that talk about a specific strain, how it smoked and how it compared to the last batch come from people who actually bought it.

Where to find it: The Quad Father

Of the 508 shops in our index, The Quad Father is the clearest example of a menu that passes that test from top to bottom.

Nearly every listing on their AAAA flower menu carries the grower's name in the title. At the time of writing the menu runs to 75 products, and the names on it are ones craft buyers will know:

  • Beautiful BC Flowers, the largest share of the menu, including Couch Lock, Rocket Fuel, Black Tuna and Holy Grail Kush
  • Pressure Farms, including Death Bubba, Pink Bubba, Gas Chamber and their living soil runs
  • Next Level Farms, flower plus their own live resin and full spectrum extracts
  • Kootenay Craft, Westside Gardens, Bonzai Boyz, BC Growlord, Gorilla Goon Genetics, Luna West, Kingsmen Crew, Prohibition Farms and more

That is more than fifteen named growers on one menu. You can look any of them up, compare their runs, and decide whose flower you like, which is exactly what a craft label is supposed to let you do.

The other checks hold up too. Several strains are listed as 11 week, meaning the plants were left to flower longer than a standard run. Living soil batches are marked LSO. Smalls and mediums get their own listings at lower prices instead of being blended in. And the reviews on their index page are the specific kind: people writing about Couch Lock or a particular Pink Kush run by name.

The numbers

  The Quad Father
MOM Index rating 4.9 from 46 reviews
Based in New Brunswick
Named growers on the menu 15 and counting
Free shipping Orders over $150
Payment Interac e-Transfer
Mix and match quarter pound, AAAA $425
Mix and match half pound, AAAA $799

The mix and match packs are worth knowing about if you want to try several growers in one order. You pick the strains, so a quarter pound can be four different producers side by side.

What craft costs, and what it should not

Craft flower costs more than bulk and it should. Somebody ran a small room, took the time on the cure and trimmed by hand.

What it should not cost is dispensary money. Buying direct from a mail order shop that deals with the growers cuts out most of the markup, which is how named, small batch AAAA ends up priced where it does.

If the budget is tight, smalls are the way in. Same plants, same cure, smaller buds, lower price.

Quick answers

What is the difference between craft weed and AAAA?
AAAA is a quality grade. Craft is about how and by whom it was grown. Good craft is usually AAAA, but plenty of AAAA is not craft.

How do I know craft weed is real?
Look for the grower's name on the listing. If the shop cannot tell you who grew it, the label means nothing.

What does LSO mean?
Living soil organic. The plants are grown in soil that feeds itself, instead of being fed bottled nutrients.

Where is the best place to buy craft weed online in Canada?
Start with a shop that names its growers. The Quad Father does it on nearly every listing and holds a 4.9 rating on our index.

Is it safe to order?
Mail order shops take e-Transfer, which has no chargeback, so stick to established shops with a real review history, and make a first order a small one.

The short version

Ignore the word craft and look for a name. Flower you can trace to a grower is the real thing. Flower you cannot is just flower.

The Quad Father puts the grower on almost everything it sells, which is why it is our first stop for craft. Visit thequadfather.co to see what is on the menu this week. If you want to compare it against the rest, the full MOMs list and the rankings are the place to do it.

For adults 19 and over, 21 in Quebec. MOM Index is a directory and does not sell cannabis. Menu, prices, growers and ratings were checked on October 13, 2026 and change often. Do your own checks before sending money to any shop.
