I've had the recent pleasure of getting to review a few strains from quadsquad, weedprimes craft, quad line. Arriving in some really neat looking bags with some eye catching artwork. Couldn't help but to start with this Platinum Cake fir...st as I always tend to drift toward cake strains. A cross of Wedding Cake x The Platinum, bred by inhouse genetics. Dense, tightly structured buds that display a vibrant array of soft greens and purples, complimented by clusters of blazing orange pistils. Very greasy looking, stacked with a coat of resinous, milky trichomes. Perfectly cured as the buds snap off the stem with ease but are sticky to the touch.
The Platinum is definitely the dominant parent in this cross when it comes to the smell. A mix of musky, kushy aromas, accented by a pungent diesel-nuttiness with hints of spices and a subtle sweetness. The Wedding Cake comes out in the flavour however, adding a cake sweetness to the mix. It's incredibly smooth smoking, burning to a light ash with a bit of peppering and heavy grease ring. Thick, milky smoke with zero harshness, even on larger puffs.
Potent, indica-hybrid effects as one could expect from the pairing of the Platinum and Wedding Cake. Strong, euphoria inducing high with a perfect mix of mind and body effects that leave one zoned out and slightly couch locked, especially when partaking in larger amounts. Overall a great cut of this strain and a good indicator of the quality quadsquad is offering.
Just like the Blue Lights, this Watermelon is one I thoroughly enjoyed and it looks even better this time around as the nugs are plumper. Everything else is identical however. Gorgeous, vibrant colours on display as they sport a combination of soft g...reens with dark purple accents, accompanied by a mix of orange and brown pistils. A bit of remaining sugar leaf as well. Frosty and sticky to the touch, definitely most suited for a grinder.
The profile on this Watermelon is it's strong suit as it smells absolutely delightful. Not necessarily like watermelon but it's very sweet and fruity, reminiscent of juicy red berries, maybe even a little strawberry. The flavour is equally as enjoyable, offering those same sweet berry terps with an added herbal touch upon exhaling. Very smooth and clean burning, producing a milky smoke and resinous oil ring.
A strain with unknown genetics but is said to be an indica dominant hybrid in it's effects. I would say that sounds very accurate to what I experienced as it definitely embodies a few telltale indica traits. An extremely relaxing and easy going buzz that gets stronger with time, washing away any negativity or anxiety as it's also uplifting and upbeat. Not a knock out or sedating type at all but more so an indica that can be enjoyed at any time.
I reviewed this lovely cross of Blueberry and Northern Lights just a few weeks ago and enjoyed it so much that I had to get some more. It's identical this time around as well. Dense, greasy, super photogenic buds that are wonderfully coloured ...and coated in purple streaks and sugary white trichomes. Extremely caked and sticky with a precise trim and terrific cure to follow.
One of those times where you can't put the jar down as the aromas are very addicting. Sweet fragrances of blueberries that are accented by earthy and herbal undertones. Very aromatic and full flavoured, providing a tasty smoke that remains smooth from start to finish. Great burn as well, leaving behind a clean white ash and greasy oil ring.
I found the effects to be equally balanced in the early stages of the high. An even mix of cerebral and euphoric qualities that make it great for focus related tasks as well as creative ones. It's also uplifting and relaxing, giving it a mellow and happy demeanour. As the high wore off, it left me slightly burned out and lazy, enforcing it's indica dominance in the long run. A very enjoyable strain altogether and one of the best I've had from TNR.
Probably the least visually appealing out of the 4, this Tom Fords Bubba Kush sports more of a loose and fluffy appearance with buds comprised of olive greens and orange pistils. Spongy and lackadaisically trimmed, though modestly frosty with a sticky interior. Perhaps just a tad fresh as it seems... to lack that real greasiness. Some of the other buds don't look as good as the one posted above (all pics in gallery)
The profile of this tfbk is sweet and earthy with hints of herbal pine. Gassy as well, although not as gassy nor as dank as the pink I reviewed. Still an enjoyable and smooth smoke, and continues to get better with each day spent in the jar. Burns fairly clean despite the leaf, producing a light grey ash complimented by a medium grease ring.
Found it to be pretty well balanced and hit like a hybrid in it's effects. It had all the relaxing and calming traits of an indica but with a certain focus and alertness, making it perfectly functional for any time of the day as it isn't overwhelming or sedating for anyone with a moderate tolerance.
Up next from DNMN, Tom Ford Pink Kush. I've seen a few very good reviews on this one so far so it had me excited to try. Arriving in one absolute unit of a nug, weighing a solid 7 grams. Nothing crazy going on in the looks department but it&...#39;s super greasy complexion cannot be ignored. Dark forest green in colour, topped with bright orange hairs and milky trichomes. Very dense and solid, holding in a good amount moisture that leave the fingers sticky when handled. Great cure as well.
Definitely the Pink profile I chase as this TFPK reeks of sweet, floral gas with undertones of earth and pine. Pungent and dank, translating to flavour very accurately with a mix of sweet, floral gas with subtle earthy accents. It's smooth for how thick the smoke is but can be heavy on the lungs, burning with a light ash and greasing up rather quickly.
An extremely enjoyable indica high, providing a powerful head stone that's accompanied by uplifted euphoric effects. It's relaxing as well, feeling it take hold mentally and physically and leaving one in a dreamy/spacey state. It can be enjoyed throughout the day but it's heavy hitting nature can definitely be sedating, making it an effective evening smoke.
This Death Tuna arrived in smaller, popcorn sized nugs that were quite appealing and free of any larf. Mainly forest green in colour with the exception of many dark orange hairs, sporting a well cured, sticky-soft texture. Greasy and frosty too,... with an overall neat trim for the most part, minus a few of the leafier buds.
Strong aromas of earth and gas, accented by notes of sweet kush. It really shines when broken up as it further emits it's pungent, dank properties. It's also followed by underlying hints of what may be interpreted as tuna but more so when smoked. Full flavoured as well, providing thick plumes of earthy gas that can be slightly heavy at first but extremely forgiving. Clean burning and resinous, producing a light grey ash with a hefty grease ring.
Potent and long lasting in effects, delivering strong heady sensations paired with a relaxing body stone. A little goes a long way, and although not an instant knockout, this one does manage to put you in quite the lazy and lethargic state that can only lead to an eventual nap.
Barney Rubble, a cross of Orange Cookies and Fruity Pebbles OG. Out of the four strains I've tried, this one is definitely the best looking. Chunky, tightly structured buds with some slight fox tailing and impressive trichome production, leavin...g them caked and greasy. Shades of light and dark greens with hints of purple, followed by rusty orange pistils and a perfect trim. A tad bit crispy on the outside but overall quite sticky and nicely cured.
Even though it's my first time trying this strain, the aroma profile is very familiar and pleasant. It's got a fruity-berry sweetness, followed by musky and nutty-herbal undertones, all combining to give it a rich, cookie leaning profile that is delightful. It's more subtle when smoked, offering a sweet, herbal smoke with hints of berries that quickly come and go. Not nearly as full bodied as the smell. It's very smooth however, burning with a salt and pepper ash and average sized oil ring.
The high takes place entirely in the head at first as it provides strong cerebral effects, making for a potent, mental-driven buzz that can be overwhelming when trying to multitask. It shortly blends into more of a euphoric, mellow buzz that had me feeling cheerful and giddy throughout the morning, noticing very little burn out effects afterwards.
Gelato has been a true favourite of mine over the years. This one from Pink Joint arrived in a lovely assortment of large nugs, some weighing around 4-5 grams, barely fitting in the included container which isn't small by any means and comfo...rtably holds a half ounce (That's all 14 grams above). Very plump and chunky. Although leafy, there is still a good amount of visual appeal. Mainly light green in colour with shades of purple that can be seen on certain buds more than others. The orange pistils really stand out in contrast against the hefty amount of frosty white trichomes. Semi-dense texture, containing an average level of moisture that didn't come off as dry nor overly sticky.
The aromas of this Gelato were a little muted at first after spending some time outside in the cold. A couple days in the jar has done it well although it isn't exactly the Gelato I'm used too. It has a general sweet smell that does have hints of a more familiar Gelato but it's dominated by overtones of dank earth and roasted nuts. The flavour is extremely similar as it produces a very earthy, herbal tasting smoke with a touch of sweetness on exhale. It burned nice and smooth, offering a light ash and decent sized resin ring. I just wish it had been a little terpier.
I felt the high to be the highlight of this Gelato as it's rather potent with it's plethora of euphoric driven effects. Everything seems to loosen up shortly after smoking, mentally and physically, as it's relaxing and uplifting in nature and can turn a lousy mood upside down. Great late afternoon or after dinner smoke as it's balanced enough to enjoy all evening without falling asleep, perhaps just a slight burn out on the comedown.
Sweet Tooth, an old-school, three way cross of Afghani, Hawaii, and Nepalese. Arriving in small to medium sized nugs, displaying shades of light green and sage. Drowning in an ocean of thick, noodle like pistils that are brownish-orange in colou...r and doused in a modest layer of crystals, leaving the texture an average stickiness. Not necessarily dense but also not loose, giving the buds more of a fluffy composition.
The profile of this Sweet Tooth is strangely unique and a bit of an acquired taste but it definitely has grown me. Aromas of sweet and flowery-earth, followed by peppery and woody-herbal nuances. It also tastes very herbal and woody with a touch of sweetness on exhale. Noticeably more enjoyable when smoked through a joint rather a bong, specifically because of the added sweetness and smoothness. Super clean burning regardless, providing a snow white ash with a hefty grease ring.
A decent potency with almost instantaneous effects, beginning with a bubbly and euphoric high that can quickly uplift ones mood. Invigorating and elevating, all while offering mellow, nerve calming qualities. Good for wake and bakes but consuming a large amount has it feeling more suitable for afternoons as it can leave one slightly lazy afterwards.
Saved my favourite one for last. Cherry Blossom. A strain with unknown genetics, although rumoured to involve Berry Blossom and Cherry Pie. A beautiful forest green appearance, sporting a dense, tight bud structure, topped off by a magnitude of ...cloudy white trichomes. They are also populated by a plethora of lovely orange pistils and subtle shades of purple. Moderately sticky and trimmed very neatly.
Staying true to it's name, this one smelled remarkably like fresh cherries at first. There are other fruity nuances detected after a long sniff as well, adding notes of sweet berries to the mix, followed by a touch of earth. The same terps carry over to the taste, just a little less pronounced, offering a sweet, berry accented smoke that fades into a bit of a pine flavour. Effortlessly smooth and easy on the lungs, burning with a light coloured ash and decent grease ring.
An indica leaning high, although one would never guess it to be so, as it begins feeling rather sativa in nature. Opening up with a cerebral stone that feels very focused and clear headed. Halfway through the high is when it starts exuding more indica themed tendencies as it transitions into a super calming, relaxing stone. It's not an instant knock out but it's definitely the type to have you lazily yawning afterwards.
