Northern Lights Appalacia The Mad Scientist Indica Review | 5/5 | [safebud.wiki](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/259/northern-lights-appalachia-indica-north...ern-lights-at-least-the-name-is-a-familiar-strain-that-few-po)
Northern Lights (at least the name) is a familiar strain that few potheads and regular folk have not heard before. We have looked at northern lights before but it’s been a long time and surprisingly we don’t come across it very often. Rated at 15-21% which is mid-high this bud is rated high and priced accordingly :D
Opening the bag we get a very SWEET, floral, PINEY smell (not as much as the sweetness) with quite a bit of the lemony acidic smell as well. Def a great and appetizing combination as you have to take into appreciation that it has a quite complex array of scents. Up close the buds have very long red hairs (which shows a lil’ care and love) with an overall nice mix of light green, some dark green, some strands of purple as well but if it’s not covered in red hairs it’s covered in crystals.
Tho dense, the buds are quite fluffy, easy to pull apart, and due to the fluffy-ness we get crystals down to the core giving it quite an illustrious shine. Peeling it apart we even see some STRANDS of red hairs poking out, showing how nice it growed / was dried so that it was a good mix of everything together. Broken apart the acidic smell almost burns the nostrils now which is quite different than our initial bag smell (almost no sweetness). Just burning, aciding, lemon-pledge (not chemical)/lemon-zest.
Grinding it up we see the red hairs give it a bit of a darker look overall but is still covered in shiny crystals. Squeezing it is very sticky (hand and to itself) leaving a bit of crystals between the fingers. The smell is even MORE acidic/lemony burning nostrils smell. Not the most unique smell but we haven’t really seen it at this strength (tho quite often).
Having tried it from the vape the taste def. takes you aback. Expecting the taste to match the smell (lemony/acidic) it was quite incorrect. At 185 we got a very food-like, skunky flavor (chinese-food taste). The longer we left it in the vaporizer we got a more PEPPERy taste. It left a bit of a string in the back of the throat and woke up the senses. This skunky, peppery, full-bodied flavor was def one of the most unique flavor combinations we’ve come across. Last time we had peppery like this was from OCS’s DNS Lemon strain ... whereas this one showed a more dominant SKUNKY + Peppery feel. As well even after the vape we’re already feeling the indica effects which is quite fast (as we dont usually get it till burning in the pipe) so we know it’s either a kick-in fast kinda strain or simply high THC.
Smoking from the pipe we’re left with a quite WHITE ash / light grey ash. This closely resembles our very smooth, white smoke that’s easy on the lungs and throat. We actually got quite a bit of that pepper taste pull through. The effects at first were a bit Hybrid-Sativa leaning but quickly leaned toward a heavy indica / body buzz / relaxed but still able to socialize and put you in a good mood (with a bit of cottonmouth). Not something I would personally smoke in the morning but something I could have as a nightcap even with guests.
Overall was greatly impressed and happy to see Northern Lights back in action. From a great smell out of the bag, unique colors and long red hairs, to the smooth and tasty smoke the strain performed well on all fronts. That unique lemon/skunky strain in the vape coupled with the pepper coming through the smoke really made it memorable and perhaps was one of the few times I quite enjoyed this lazier indica experience.

\[6ixpensary\] Pink Frost Hybrid Review | 4.6/5 | [Microscopic Photos](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/256/pink-frost-hybrid-another-pink-strain-which-from-...what-i-heard-is-supposed-to-be-quite-stronger-in-st)
Another ’Pink’ strain which, from what I heard, is supposed to be quite stronger in strength based on the genetics. This one claims to be up to 26% THC but hard to tell as usually those aren’t based on any tests.
Upon opening it up we get a very DIESEL, GASSY, slight hints of sweetness. The gassy smell is pretty common but it’s nice to come across it when its extra strong and the dominant scent.
The bud structure has that ’foxtail’ look (buds look like hands) and has a nice assortment of long red hairs, darker leaves, some purple, and pockets of frosty THC especially around the corners. This unique bud structure we’ve seen from Broken Coast, HSP, etc and have always turned out to be top notch. Due to the unique shape I can understand why these particular buds were a bit smaller shaped. Also due to the shape you get crystals all the way to the core and it doesnt change color or get more leafy/less crystally. This consisten THC and color guarantees a stronger high.
Even cracked open the bud still maintains a very GASSY, DIESEL, smell, but now the only difference is my fingers are extra sticky to each other (a nice surprise).
Grinding it up yields a lot lighter overall color, lots of crystals, red hairs, but very very sticky. Was actually hard to grind up and maintains that stickiness (to my hands and each other) when squeezed. The smell once again is VERY gassy, diesel. No pine, no sweetness, nothing but gas and diesel. The smell is beginning to lean toward ’fishy’ smell which we’ve seen with the other gassy strains like Blue Tuna.
From the vaporizer the taste was strong, consistent, and there throughout the entire session. Lower temps was a baked goods / bread / non-sweetened cookie taste (185) and after letting it vape in the chamber for a while, we got hit HARD with that gassy diesel flavor. It was quite bitter which was consistent with drinking coffee with that bitter aftertaste. Even though the flavor wasn’t my favorite it was important to note for those diesel enthusiasts. Cranking it up to 195 yielded a more fishy taste but still quite gassy and bitter, Although not the most unique of flavors quite strong overall.
After burning it from the pipe we have a light to dark grey ash. The smoking experience was quite smooth, with a strong diesel flavor the entire burn and def. there. The effects were euphoric, relaxed, good-mood, no anxiety. A good bud to even share with friends or guests while chilling and relaxing. Usually theres couch lock or laziness but this one def leans more sativa and gives you just enough energy to keep going.
Overall impressed with the bud through looks/shape, smell/taste (tho not the most unique), and the smooth, tasty blaze. Overall ’Pink’ strains seem to be living up to their rep

\[The Chrono\] Platinum Blackberry Hybrid Indica Review | 4/5 | [Microscopic Photos](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/252/platinum-blackberry-indica-today-we-are-looking-at-platinum-black...berry-from-a-mail-order-marijuana-s)
Today we are looking at Platinum Blackberry from a Mail order Marijuana service, The Chrono.

I’ve had many platinum strains, but I have yet to try Platinum Blackberry. It is a cross of the classic Platinum OG Kush and Blackberry Kush.

It is an Indica dominant strain with a 70 to 30 ratio. The regular price is $11 a gram, which is quite reasonable for a bud like this. Straight out of the bag, it smells like a sweet berry with a little hint of grassiness. Reminds me of camping.

The surface of the bud is dense, and has a frosty rough exterior. The glistening trichomes all packed in together with a nice distribution of orange hairs. It’s a hard bud, but has some give when you press down on it while also being fairly sticky.

When we crack this bud open, we can see that there is a hidden cave of frostiness. Its fairly light on the inside compared to the outside. The leaves go a much lighter green as it goes towards the middle. The orange hairs aren’t visible on the inside, but you can also see theres a thicc layer of them coming from the surface. The trim on this bud is decent, I wouldn’t change much about it.
When ground up, the color is more of a mute green. The orange hairs are distributed evenly and looks quite nice. Up close you can definitely see how frosty it was prior as its quite dusty. The smell has more of a pine scent along with more of a grassy smell. The sweet berryness is still there, just not as prominent. Without the gloves on, it feels damp and but not as sticky as it was before grinding.

When vaping it, you can definitely taste the berry flavor. It’s probably the most prominent flavor. The other flavors you can taste while vaping this is a slightly harsh but not bad diesel taste. And then theres an undertone of pine which brings it all together. The taste is there throughout the experience but gets harsher as the flower heats up. The high with the vape isn’t bad, its a very even level headed high. I’m sure if I smoked more I would have trouble speaking. Based on vape alone, its a good flower to vape. It’s pretty flavorful but I have tasted this flavor many times before, it’s nothing new.

Unfortunately I can’t smoke any of this right now, but earlier when I smoked this in a joint, the larger amount of flower is what made this bud show its true colors. The high starts in the head and then slowly takes over your body with a sedating come down. Very good for people with insomnia or having trouble sleeping. The smoke was pretty smooth. Not a harsh smoke, but I did cough a couple times. No big deal. The taste had a more pine/diesel taste to it than vaping. The berry flavor was buried quite good. But the smell of the smoke had much more berryness than that of the vape. The clouds were nice, decent thick clouds based off how much I rolled which was about .5 grams.

The ash burns fairly white. A little darker towards the more packed parts. But overall in a joint or bowl the ash is almost paper white.

All in all, this is a fairly good flower for the price. $11 per gram, especially if you catch it on sale is decent. If the berry-like pine flavor and aroma interests you, then you should give this a shot. I would probably buy this again, maybe to share with friends.

\[Hillside Pharms\] Citrus Slurricane Archive Seeds Hybrid Indica Review | 4/5 | [Microscopic Photos](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/249/citrus-slurricane-hybrid-indica-another-delicio...us-sounding-strain-from-a-craft-grower-im-usually-pre)
Another delicious sounding strain from a craft grower I’m usually pretty excited to try. Being fortunate enough to get larger nugs it should provide a better examination of the strain. Grown by Archive Seeds it’s labeled a Hybrid Indica which is one of my favorite types.
Out of the jar we get some of the sweetest, citrus-y, lemon-y, delicious / candy smell we’ve experienced in a long time. Smells delicious and very unique which probably also has to do with the freshness. The buds are quite hairy, quite frosty, having the crystals transforming the dark bits to a lighter tint. I’d say about 50/50 red hairs which also were quite covered by crystals.
Breaking it open yields a much lighter color (light green to white) but also significantly less crystals. Perhaps due to the density of the bud it didn’t allow a uniform covering of crystals to the core. Not a very hollow center (so quite dense throughout). The bud is extremely sticky maintain the shape when squeezed or handled (and leaving hands sticky). We also get a new smell, still citrusy, but much more DIESEL/GASSY than how it was out of the jar. The buds we examined weighed about 4-5grams each demonstrating just how dense the bud was. Hopefully these tastes are maintained when vaped.
Once grinding it up the bud turns and even LIGHTER color green, a mixture of the center-whitish color and the crystals on the outside. Still quite a few visible red hair that are quite contrast to the light green, white colors of the bud. Once again quite a very sticky bud (sticking to hands, sticking to itself, almost as playdough) leaving quite a few crystals between the fingers as well. The smell turned into a much more acidic, sour smell slowly being overpowered by a gassy, diesely smell. Not quite as sweet as we were expecting it straight out the jar. Still candy-like sour hints but slowly being overtaken by the darker gassy smells.
In the vape the best way to describe the experience was above average. Lower temps (185) yielded gassy, diesely, bitter, darker flavor, but not SUPER strong, a much milder flavor. Shortly after was the sweet, baked goods taste but once again not super flavorful, but there. At 195 we still got diesel, bitter and still a bit mild. Only at the very end did we get a sweet, citrusy flavor like we wanted to from the get-go. Would have been nice if that sweet citrus flavor was there from start to finish (hence the name of the strain) but if you’re into the gassy flavors it might be your thing. Personally I was expecting a taste closer to the original smell and name which made me feel a tad disappointed.
Having smoked it from the pipe we’re left with a light grey/dark grey ash. The experience itself was a bit harsh, not AS smooth as I wanted it to be. It was def. fresh so we did get a bit flavor while burning which is usually not a common occurrence. THe best thing about blazing it was that it was quite a STRONG feeling. A very indica effect: couch lock, relaxed, laid back, not really socialize, something you would want to do at home and not necessarily go out and party... even chores may be a bit difficult.
So to summarize we had a GREAT smelling / looking bud that was quite dense, fresh yet crystals diminished toward the center. It vaped unexpectedly very diesel-y/gassy, more than sweet/sour as the original name and smell was concerned. Finally it burned a bit harsh but had a great strong indica buzz. A bit of room for improvement but at the same time could be a smell/taste/experience that some may crave.

\[Kootenay Craft\] Watermelon Hybrid Indica Review | 5/5 | [Microscopic Photos](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/248/watermelon-hybrid-indica-another-fruity-...strain-from-one-of-my-favorite-craft-growers-with-a-deliciou)
Another fruity strain from one of my favorite craft growers with a delicious name: watermelon. Although a trade I felt happy to finally get around to trying this as it’s described as a hybrid indica with great feedback. Hopefully this strains tastes as good as it sounds.
Right out of the jar this strain smells sweet, a bit of a cookie, a bit of a floral smell. Tons of crystals, light in colors (with some dark green in between), quite a few red hairs (tho stuck down by the crystals) and looks solid, caked, well trimmed. The bud was fluffy, not super dense, but when cracked open smells even STRONGER candy / sweet smell. The bud remains dense and crystally even down to the stem which ensures a stronger buzz when we do eventually get down to smoking it.
When grinding it up we get a sense of just how dense it was before. Tho still light in color the crystals give it an overall even/dull/shine to it. The stickiness is where it shines; sticking both to my hands and to itself and we are able to feel the crystals between our fingers even after. Now that it was ground up we get a much more PINEY smell (overpowering the sweetness). A very light, fresh, summer-time piney smell with a hint of tropical/fruit/sweet smells we had originally but now a much more piney, zesty, smell. Tho still candy-like it’s interesting to see how much the bud changes when ground up vs fresh out of the bag.
In the vape was (at first, 185) not that interesting. Low temps we got sweet cookies, not living up to the ’Watermelon’ name. We raised it to 195 and got a very sweet, very fruity (hard to tell if watermelon persay) but tropical and sweet for sure. It ended up being 50/50 cookie flavor and sweet tropical flavors. The only disappointing part was when it was finished and you just wanted more ;) ... a good problem to have. Could be one of the new ’favorite’ strains alongside pineapple or other fruity flavors as the taste simply got stronger the more we vaped.
After smoking it the ash was left white with light grey ash. For the actual smoking experience it was light on the lungs, smooth smoke, very SHISHA-like, lots of vapor. The effects kicked in almost immediately (even around the time we were vaping) which is nice. It’s def. an indica leaning (lazy, relaxed, euphoric good mood) but not something you’d wanna go out in public with or go do chores. Probably best to leave it as end-of-night kind of smoke. Some visuals as well (things look sharper, hearing is improved) so def all the checkboxes for a solid indica.
Overall looking at the bud as a whole there’s nothing to complain about. Smells great, looks shiny and well kept, great taste in the vape (and what we expect from a name like watermelon) and a smooth, strong smoke while blazing. A bud I’m glad I received as a gift to review as it’s probably something I’d buy again whether from the same grower or other craft growers to compare and see if others are a 5/5 like this one.

\[GanjaWest\] Girl Scout Cookies GSC Hybrid Indica Review | 4.7/5 | [Microscopic Photos](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/245/girl-scout-cookies-hybrid-girl-...scout-cookies-gsc-is-probably-one-the-most-household-pot-names-i-reme)
Girl scout cookies (GSC) is probably one the most household pot names I remember even before legalization .. but have had mixed results with it in the past. Either flavorless, too harsh, or too weak (or in OCS 56$ / 3.5g) so I never understood why people liked it so much.
This hybrid indica (60/40 with up to 28% THC) is marked as AAA. Right away when opening up I could smell wine, alcohol, spirit, the smells I associate with very high end bud. I didn’t really get a cookies but smelled a sweet, pleasing smell (not baked goods) which is a nice combination nonetheless. Pretty light in color it was really crusty, lots of orange, long red hairs, pretty dense. Near the center the crystals lessened up but yielded a nice green stem. Breaking it open also gave a bit of a different smell, a bit of a food-spice smell. Sticky as when pinching it maintained its form with no bits and pieces falling off.
When grinding it up we really see how shiny, crusty the buds are. The bud themselves are very light green, some tints of purple (minor) and a VERY sticky bud (to itself, not to my hands). The smell now is very SHARP, burns the nostrils: a bit lemony, almost burning the nostrils with that wine, alcohol smell. Lemon, wine, and stinkyness is the best way to describe it. Possibly one of the most unique smell we’ve seen recently. Think sodapop, lemon pledge smell that really stands out among other acidic/lemon strains.
In the vape it was a very delicious experience. At 185 we got hit with a very sweet taste (sugar, sweet, bit of honey) and very flavorful. Cranking it up to 195 we got a cookie taste (Sweet as well) which was nice to taste and lasted throughout the entire vape session, the taste didn’t dissapear right away. As well the effects kicked in almost immediately even after vaping which is not a super common occurence as we usually only feel buzzed after burning it.
Burning it yielded a light grey, to light dark ash with some specks of white. Smooth-wise was a bit harsh (whether its the high THC or the actualy flush/curing of the bud). I would lean toward the fact that it was high THC as the effects really kicked in right away. Yet despite this we got nice thick smoke which filled the air quickly and made me want to go back for more right away. Def. a more indica leaning bud with couch lock, daydreaming, zoning off, no anxiety, but no body buzz. It also left me feeling in a good mood, euphoric, whether it was due to the good taste or the nature of the bud (or both). A very end-of-day sit back and relax kind of feeling.
Overall probably one of the best GSC we’ve come across (considering price of others too) I can see why this was/is a really go-to strain. From the unique spirit/wine smell, the sweet aroma both out of the bag AND while vaping and strong effects despite the semi-harsh toking it was a great experience. If I had to nitpick anything about it it would be the minor-harshness but due to the taste and the effects it could be quickly forgiven. Makes me want to research more on GSC strains and see how other growers do it ... perhaps adding it to my daily rotation (hence giving it 4.5 / 5).

\[KingTuts\] God’s Green Crack Hybrid Shatter Review | 4.?/5
First review of shatter and purposely chose one of the same strain to the earlier ’Budder Honeycomb’ we did of... God’s Green Crack.
Had similar color and consistency as we saw before with a dark amber color (see-through in some spots) but perhaps due to there being multiple layers stuck on top. It was easy to snap off but also easy to pull yielding stringy formations.
Vaping it at 320 it bubbled instantly melting to a see-through golden color which quickly turned into a darker brown color. Smell coming out was very similar to the budder before (floral, baked cookies).
Taste wise this shatter had a stronger taste compared to the budder (baked goods, cookies, sweetness, some aroma but not lots and at lower temps, but more flavor overall). Not sure if that’s the nature of the shatter in general but will compare in the future.
The effects were also stronger than the other... buzzing behind the eyes, energetic, body buzz, everything’s sharper, lots of energy, sense heightened. So similar buzz to the budder but just stronger and better taste.
So it’s interesting to kind of compare directly to the two forms and finding a preference. Hopefully trying lower grade (darker shatter) and higher end (see through golden) shatter will help us kind of narrow down the differences in quality.

God’s Green Crack Hybrid Budder Honeycomb Review | 4.?/5

Being the first review on a concentrate it’s gonna be tough to r...ate it or give it too serious of a rating ... just like the hash it’ll take a few to get a basis for comparison.
This hybrid strain of God’s Green Crack came in budder honeycomb, with a golden, pastel-yellow color that closely resembled honeycombs themselves. Brittle when touched but still quite waxy which made it easy to work with.
To keep things consistent we use a vape capped at 320F in order to get as much taste out of it as possible. After tossing a bit into the Pico vaporizer it quickly bubbled and melted to a darker brown tint.
After vaping it left a dark brown circle on the inside of the vape. Taste-wise we got incense, baked goods, not too much floral, maybe a bit woodsy which (after checking online) closely resembled the flower form of this strain. The taste was NOT that strong, not as much as fresh flower on the vape.
It felt more sativa-heavy as it made you social, energetic, got you up-and-moving, with SOME body buzz but not couch lock. The effects (obviously stronger) kicked in right away which gradually evened out to a mild buzz for over an hour.
Knowing the taste and the strength it will be interesting to see the shatter form of it and whether it differs in any significant matter. That and cheaper shatter of various qualities will probably give use a sense of just how good this budder may or may not have been leave it at 4.? / 5

\[Cheebas\] Blueberry Hash Review | 4.?/5 | [Ash Photos](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/237/blueberry-indica-this-is-only-the-second-time-we-reviewed-hash-and-is-a-very-top-shelf-hash-s...o-well-)
This is only the second time we reviewed hash and is a very top shelf hash ... so we’ll hard to compare until we get cheaper stuff (Like the mercedes hash).
Similar to the ’Wheres my bike’ sativa hash, this one we easy to massage like Playdough but also easy to break off into tiny bits when smoking. The color, also black on the outside, lighter brown on the inside, seemed to leave a bit more residue on the gloves than the other top shelf hash.
It maintained a very baked-goods, cooked smell with a hint of sweetness.
Smoking it left a light grey ash, I’d say a tad bit darker than the ’wheres my bike’ but not by much. Lighting it and letting it burned maintained an even and CONSISTENT smoke stack; didn’t flare up nor did it extinguish itself easier. This makes it easy to smoke without the need to constantly be lighting it. Again, even just letting it burn by itself the smell tasted like baked goods rather than burned-weed like we do with flower. It did have a bit of a blueberry/sweeter taste while smoking, but not very strong.
The effects were def. more of an indica feel than the last hash providing an instant body buzz, relaxation, good mood, that kind of thing. I would say its more of a couch lock than the other (tho both hashes gave a body buzz and relaxation) this one seemed to be a bit more.
Tho not a very interesting thing to compare (two high quality hashes) we’ll be checking out some really cheap hash and trying to see the difference between the two.

\[6ixpensary\] Banana Punch Hybrid Review | 4.5/5 | [Microscopic Photos](https://www.safebud.wiki/review/233/banana-punch-hybrid-always-been-a-fan-of-fruit...-flavors-pineapple-berry-apple-but-this-is-the-first-t)
Always been a fan of fruit flavors (pineapple, berry, apple) but this is the first time I’ve had anything named banana.
Even before opening you can tell is nice and whole, crystally, with a pretty nice dominant green stem. Upon opening it’s not quite banana smell but more along the lines of baked goods, cookies, similar to the mimosa we had before. Looking closer you can see it’s caked in crystals, long red hairs (not too many, maybe 20% red hairs) and an overall shine over what would be a green leaf. The buds are not too dense but not fluffy either, with each of our sample buds weighing about 1.5g. Well trimmed (looks like hand trimmed) as there were leaves but the ones that were left were crusty.
Cracking it open yielded a way darker color (perhaps the natural color of the bud) and you can see a clear difference between the center and the outside (night and day). The smell now comes in much more citrusy, much more tangy, a lot more scents than when it was a whole bud.
Upon grinding it up we can see just how light color the bud is. Very sticky when pinched (to hands and to itself) and yielded a VERY strong, citrus, sweet, tangy, maybe banana / tropical smell. Good to see as was a bit worried was going to be boring cookie smells throughout.
Having tried it from the vape at low temp we only got a bitter, baked goods taste which is pretty common among all strains. Once at 195 we immediately got a sweet, tropical, fruity, maybe not banana, but def a very pleasant experience, one of my favorite combinations (we’ve seen many time before but def nice to have). Even more so, perhaps due to the freshness of the bud, it produced a lot of vapor.
Smoking it from the pipe yielded light grey-dark ash. The smoking experience was not the smoothest, dare I say a bit harsh, but still pretty easy on the lungs, thick smoke, and satisfactory to smoke. It had big plumes of smoke which was satisfying to see.
The effects kicked in right away: euphoric, happy, blooming, sharp, bright colors, kind of dumbfounded so good for sitting back, socializing, having a good time. This kind of happy feeling is not always there when blazing so its nice to see it once in a while.
Overall really good experience, great taste, great bag appeal, if only it was a smoother smoke I would have loved it even more. It was nice to see the experience matched the name of the strain which brings me hope in finding other banana flavored bud and perhaps finding something that is closer to a 5/5.
